The peculiar thing about
Boone North
Carolina is, while it is a vacation hotspot
and a central hub for most of what goes on in
the High Country region of the Blue Ridge
Mountains, it is mostly without any major
attractions of its own. A great deal of the
areas that surround Boone NC are filled with the
attractions that have become synonymous with the
area (i.e. Tweetsie Railroad in Blowing Rock and
Grandfather Mountain in nearby Banner Elk) and
the attractions that remain in the town of Boone
are mostly smaller, less publicized attractions
in the area. That is not to say that Boone NC
does not have its fair share of fun and
interesting places to check out. Below is a
listing of some of the smaller, popular

Horn in the West
Horn in the West is probably the oldest Boone NC
Attraction as it probably one of the longest
running outdoor dramas featured in Western North
Carolina. This past season, the 2009 season,
marks the 58th consecutive year that the drama
was open. Visitors are treated to an
entertaining play that has plenty of plot twists
and turns and features the lives of the early
settlers in the area.
Boone Bowling Center
Boone Bowling Center is conveniently located
right in the heart of Boone near many of the
area's best eateries and retail stores. Stop in
for a fun time or check out the festivities that
take place every Saturday night when the bowling
center cuts off the lights, turns up the tunes
and offers Cosmic Bowling.
Fun n Wheels Go Kart Park
Fun N Wheels Go Kart Amusement Park is located
right off of Hwy 105 in Boone NC. A favorite
place with students and the young at heart, Fun
N Wheels features a Go Kart track and a few
great rides and arcade games. Open weather
permitting.
Magic Mountain Mini Golf
 Magic
Mountain Mini Golf is the only place to play
mini golf in the High Country. During the warm
months of spring and summer, students,
vacationers and locals head over to this fun
spot to enjoy a round of mini golf and spend
some time with friends. The layout is probably
one of the hardest mini golf designs on the East
Coast!
Country Retreat Family Billiards
Country Retreat Family Billiards is more of a
family restaurant and eatery than a Boone
Attraction, but it is still included because of
its fantastic billiards. Here you can play pool
and enjoy a family atmosphere without all of the
smoke and annoyances usually found at most other
places where pool is played. Gather with your
friends, get the kids together and head out to
Family Billiards. Family Billiards also sells
new and used pool tables.
