Todd NC is a cozy, mountain town on the border of Ashe and Watauga counties filled with plenty of history, friendly people and foot stomping bluegrass music. What began as a small town located on the Virginia-Carolina Railway, which later became a branch of the Norfolk and Western Railway, commonly named the Virginia Creeper, eventually grew into a booming town with the Virginia Creeper running from 1915 to 1933. Once the railroad closed down however, the town’s people left and as the Great Depression’s financial turmoil affected the area, many people left the region to look for work elsewhere.

Today, Todd’s historic buildings and small, closely tied community maintains its heritage by hosting several community events throughout the year. People from all around come to the Todd General Store, which opened in 1910, to hear live bluegrass music each week, and each year and there are many festivals and community park events held each season. Many people visit the quaint town for its historic buildings, bluegrass music concerts and its lovely atmosphere.
